About Invetest

The honest way to see
everything about your money

Most people put off investing because it feels complicated. Invetest exists to make the numbers concrete — showing, with real market data, what waiting has cost, what starting now could become, and when your money could set you free.

Why we built it

People understand stories better than percentages

Telling someone "the S&P 500 averages about 10% a year" means almost nothing. Showing them that $200 a month for 10 years turned into $42,000 — using real 2014–2024 data — changes how they think about money entirely.

Invetest is the tool we wished existed when we were first learning to invest: concrete, honest, and completely free. No jargon, no sales pitch, no locked features — just the math, drawn from real market history.

"The best time to start investing was yesterday. The second best time is today." Invetest just shows you, in dollars, exactly what that means for you.

Data & methodology

How the numbers are calculated

Historical prices (Replay)

All historical price data is sourced from Yahoo Finance via the yfinance library. Prices are adjusted for stock splits and represent daily closing prices; monthly returns use month-end closing prices.

Monte Carlo simulation (Future)

Future Mode uses up to 15 years of each asset's real daily returns. Rather than assuming a bell curve, it resamples those actual returns (a historical bootstrap), so real crashes and fat tails are preserved. The average return is dampened toward a sane long-run rate — so one exceptional stretch can't produce an unrealistic median — while the asset's real volatility is kept intact. It then compounds 1,000 independent forward paths and reports the 10th / 50th / 90th-percentile range.

Freedom projection (Planning)

The Planning tool is a deterministic projection. It compounds your savings and monthly investing at your chosen growth rate — a generic Safe / Balanced / Stocks assumption, or a real asset's long-run historical return — adjusts everything for inflation into today's money, and finds when your portfolio reaches roughly 25× your annual spending: the "4% rule" freedom number.

Past performance does not guarantee future results. Invetest is for educational purposes only and does not constitute financial advice. Always do your own research before making investment decisions.
